The 14th Dvořák Lecture by Professor Tomasz Dietl: Spin physics in topological semiconductors
přednáškaAnnotation: Recent results on the quantitative understanding of the quantum spin Hall effect and the origin of couplings between magnetic ions in topological compounds will be presented against the historical background of work on Dirac cones in condensed matter and the role of magnetic impurities in semiconductors. The question will be asked to what extent studies of the family of quantum Hall effects in a wide range of materials can contribute to experimental explorations of physics beyond the standard model.
